This is the story of a small teddy dog that decided to travel alone around the world and to visit all 193 existing countries. On this site, follow his trip, his adventures and his meetings.
A few years ago, I had invented a game with a friend of mine. The goal was to send the craziest letter and to see if it was delivered. Here below are samples of the letters we sent. Most of the time and thanks to the talent of the postmen, the letters arrived without any problem. The game ended up when my friend sent a plate with my address and a stamp stuck on it! However, I thought the craziest and most valuable letter would probably be a letter that would have turned all around the world before being delivered. However I didn’t manage to find a way to do it. This was about ten years ago. Since then, Internet arrived in our lives and I discovered several examples of objects travelling around the world that could be followed by Internet: book-crossing, bill-crossing or post-crossing. This gave an easy way to be able to follow the letter in its trip. Finally, I got the idea to send a dog rather than a simple letter when seeing “Le Fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain” by Jean-Pierre Jeunet where Amelie sends a nain de jardin around the world thanks to the help of a friend hotesse de l’air.
This dog was given by a friend of mine a few years ago for Christmas as a 1€-gift. For the trip, I was looking for a small, cheap and recognizable object. I looked around at home and found this dog, I found it perfect.
The original goal is to see Phileas travelling from one people to another without any external help, just by using relationships between these people. However, we may need some help to reach some small countries. So you can leave your address on this page (your address will not be used for any other purpose than the Phileas project).
